Gradel Quads

The Gradel Quadrangles

New College is delighted to have completed a major new development project, providing
new living and working space in a stunning new architectural setting.

The College’s aims in developing the site were:

To house all undergraduates who wish to live in for all of their course in high quality accommodation.

To create 99 new student rooms as part of the project (and one for a Junior Dean).

To provide a state of the art flexible study and teaching workspace for students to study on their
own or in small groups as well as a space for lectures, symposia and break-out group work.

To create a multi-purpose arts and performance venue, a space for concerts, theatre, exhibitions and
talks, with associated foyer areas and catering facilities.

To build new facilities for New College School. In reconfiguring the site, part of the new building houses
school dining and kitchen facilities, classrooms for the pre-prep and a new assembly hall.

Your Opportunity to Get Involved

New College has a long tradition of philanthropy going back to William of Wykeham's original benefaction
in 1379. At each subsequent step in its history, the College has been fortunate to have had the support of
Old Members and friends, who together have made it the institution it is today.

As we embark on this next phase of our history, we are once again appealing to the wider New College
community to help achieve our vision.

Name a Recital Hall Seat

New College is renowned for its music, and yet the College has no dedicated performance space. To address this, the East Wing of the new building now houses a versatile and fully accessible Recital Hall.

The 100-seat auditorium will also be an inspiring venue for performances, talks, debates and exhibitions.

A gift of $6,000 will fund a seat in the Hall, which can be given as a single gift or as 5 annual gifts of $1,200.

Name a Student Bedroom

The Gradel Quadrangles contains 108 student bedrooms, principally in the East and West Quads, where every group of 6 to 8 rooms shares a Common Room.

A gift of $30,000 will fund a student bedroom, which can be made as a single gift or as 5 annual donations of $6,000.

Name a Student Common Room

Every group of 6 to 8 rooms in the East and West Quads share a Common Room. These spaces form the social heart of the accommodation, where students meet over a cup of coffee, as well as providing catering facilities for those wishing to provide their own food.

A gift of $60,000 will fund one of these Common Rooms, which can be done as a single gift or as 5 annual donations of $12,000.
